Recovery is a journey. For teens and young adults struggling with addiction, the journey can be overwhelming. Navigating the world and building a life they love can be challenging enough, and substance use issues can add an extra layer of complexity. That’s why Kiwi Recovery offers a range of treatment programs to support our clients every step of the way. We don’t just help our clients break free from the physical bonds of addiction—we help them grow and heal, too. Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is designed with young adults and adolescents in mind to give them and their families the right balance of support and independence.
In our IOP, clients can access a comprehensive range of therapeutic interventions while still attending school, work, or other commitments. This type of treatment is ideal for young adults who have completed our full-day treatment program but would still benefit from support as they get back on track. Our IOP offers structure and guidance, allowing our clients to practice the skills they learn in a supportive environment.
What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?
An intensive outpatient program is a structured treatment outside of a residential setting. It’s one step down from a full-day treatment program and is designed to support our clients as they transition into more independent recovery.
At Kiwi Recovery, our IOP typically involves three to five days of treatment a week for three to five hours each day. Our program is designed to help our clients integrate the skills they’ve learned in treatment into their lives without feeling overwhelmed or isolated. We equip young adults with the tools they need to practice self-care and establish a positive sense of self so they can continue on their journey of recovery with the tools they need.
How Our Intensive Outpatient Program Helps Our Clients Heal
Addiction isolates. Without the support of loved ones, peers in recovery, and addiction treatment specialists, many young adults relapse or remain stuck in their addiction. Our IOP for teens and young adults was designed with this population in mind—we’re not a treatment center focusing on adults with a side program for teens. Our compassionate and experienced staff know how best to guide our clients to a life of health, wellness, and joy.
We accomplish this through personalized treatment programs featuring a wide range of therapies and services. These include:
- Relapse prevention – While relapse prevention is a key part of all our treatment programs, the IOP allows clients to practice these skills in real-life situations.
- Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) – CBT helps our clients identify and challenge any negative thoughts or behavior patterns that can lead to substance use issues.
- Group therapy – Group therapy helps our clients learn from their peers, share their stories, and build social skills in a compassionate and supportive environment.
- Family therapy – The entire family unit can benefit from sessions with a therapist who can help them explore personal issues and learn how to best support their loved one in recovery.
This is not an exhaustive list, and additional services like music therapy, meditation, and trauma therapy support clients as they build healthy coping skills for long-term recovery.
